SERVICES

On site, the ECHOS staff provides clients with

  • Application Assistance – helping clients  complete and submit applications for access to health and social services provided by Harris Health System (aka Harris County Hospital District) as well as the State of Texas Medicaid/CHIP programs and the SNAP (formerly food stamp) program;
  • Referral for clients to appropriate service providers – both on the ECHOS’ campus and in the community.

ECHOS’ volunteers

  • Offer vision screenings to the ECHOS clients that lead to referrals for full, discounted eye examinations along with discounted corrective lenses
  • Conduct ESL classes on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday mornings
  • Staff the ECHOS non-perishable food pantry Monday through Thursday and on the first Saturday of each month

Community Service Providers offer clients

  • Medical screenings for hypertension, diabetes, HIV and Hepatitis C with referral for low cost/no cost treatment for those who are symptomatic
  • Immunizations and well/sick child visits for children once each month
  • Dental services on the University of Texas Dental Branch Mobile van
  • consultations with immigration attorneys on the variety of issues facing the immigrant/refugee populations in our community

Off-site……
The ECHOS’ staff also participates in off-site weekend health fairs at schools and a variety of community locations.
